For weeks, Manlius residents have been trying to make sense of a proposal to build a brand-new, 50,000-square-foot town hall—with a $39 million price tag.
A facility that big, that expensive, and that rushed doesn’t happen by accident. It happens when priorities go sideways and taxpayers are left in the dark.
What Really Happened?
The plan was pushed forward fast—too fast. Most residents only learned about it days before a public meeting that turned into a chaotic, packed room full of concerned citizens asking: “How did this get this far without us?”
Even Town Councilors said they felt left out. One called the whole process “deeply shaken.” Another admitted the proposal seemed designed to appear on the ballot with just 90 days for voters to review a $40 million project.
Thankfully, after public outcry, the vote was tabled. But make no mistake—this plan isn’t dead. It’s just paused.
Yes, We Need Improvements. But This? This Was Too Much.
No one’s arguing the current facilities are perfect. The town hall is outdated. The police department deserves better. But there’s a difference between fixing what’s broken and blowing tens of millions of dollars on a government complex most residents can’t afford.
There was a $12 million renovation plan on the table. So why was a $40 million+ palace the focus?
Why did it take a wave of public backlash to bring this to light?
Danny Liedka’s Stance: Fix What’s Broken. Respect the People.
Danny Liedka is running for Town Supervisor because Manlius needs leadership that puts common sense before capital projects.
“I’m not against improving our facilities. I’m against doing it in a way that blindsides taxpayers and puts the burden on families who are already stretched thin.”
—Danny Liedka
If elected, Danny will:
-
Push for transparency and real public engagement before major projects move forward
-
Advocate for cost-effective improvements that address real needs without massive debt
-
Respect the people’s voice, not override it
-
Support police and town staff without forcing taxpayers to fund a vanity project
It’s Your Town. You Deserve a Say.
Let’s stop rushed mega-projects. Let’s stop leaving residents out of the loop. Let’s focus on the needs of Manlius—not the wants of Town Hall.
Vote Danny Liedka for Town Supervisor this November.
Common Sense. Fiscal Responsibility. Leadership You Can Trust.
